Don’t scratch, use Mentho-10

Mentho-10 is suitable for daily use and for a variety of skin problems. Mentho-10 provides quick and effective relief from skin irritation, itching, insect bites and inflamed skin. All Mentho-10 products are skin neutral and free of perfume.

The main active ingredient in Mentho-10 is (levo)menthol. Laevorotatory menthol, or levomenthol, is normally simply called menthol. Menthol is a natural extract of the “Mentha Arvinses” plant. It has been used for decades without any side effects in medicines, cosmetics and, for instance, throat pastilles. The cooling and itch-relieving effect of menthol has been demonstrated again and again and can be found in the medical literature. Itching can be extremely irritating, because you cannot help scratching and rubbing. Menthol widens the blood vessels and thus creates a cooling and mildly anaesthetic effect on the skin. This reduces the itching. Menthol provides immediate relief. Over the years, the use of products containing menthol has been found to be safe and effective. You can also safely use products containing menthol during pregnancy. It has been used for years by pregnant women with no adverse consequences for the baby. So it is with good reason that doctors, obstetricians and healthcare providers have for years been recommending products containing menthol to stop itching.

Some caution is advisable when using menthol products on very young children or infants. Ingestion or internal use of relatively large amounts of menthol extract can cause tightness of the chest in children younger than 2 years of age. This only applies in the case of internal use. Mentho-10 is only suitable for external use on the skin. With normal use of Mentho-10, problems of this kind are unlikely to occur. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side Mentho-10 products containing menthol should not be used on children younger than 2 years of age. To prevent irritation, unnecessary contact with the eyes should also be avoided.
